What Is Ignorance, Really?

The purpose of education is to wipe out ignorance. But what is ignorance, really?
At The Love Trumpet, we hold that the deepest root of human suffering is a lack of self awareness. Many of the problems our world faces that people create can be traced back to it: not knowing our own nature, or how the ego shapes the way we think, feel and behave. The ego is the veil, the illusion of a false self. It is our ignorance of a truth that lies beyond the mind. It also leaves us open to manipulation, because forces that profit from our fears and cravings work best on people who have never looked at them.
We are never trained or told about this, yet it is the key to our evolution as a human species. It is the key to our maturity, to the solutions to our problems, to human prosperity and to our highest wellbeing.
Evolution does not always mean becoming more technologically advanced. Sometimes it means rediscovering our connection to the world that created us.
